Zabit won’t compete at UFC 249, will fight next after Ramadan
Recently, we’ve heard some news from many sources including Zabit Magomedsharipov himself that he was going to fight next at UFC 249 event on April 18, 2020. There were rumors about Zabit facing Brian Ortega as his next opponent.
But apparently, all negotiations for Zabit’s fight at UFC 249 fell apart. Zabit made a post on Instagram confirming that he won’t be fighting in Brooklyn on April 18th.
“Things don’t always go as planned. Sadly, I’ll be there at the UFC 249 only as a fan supporting my brothers. We’ve been waiting for a long time for a top 5 opponent but they all had a reason not to take a fight on April 18th. There were offers to face opponents from top 15 but we decided with the team that a fight like that doesn’t make sense at this point. So we’ll keep working hard. There will be good news after Ramadan”.
According to this message, we can assume that Zabit’s next fight will take place at some point after Ramadan, most likely at the end of summer or in September of October.
Who do you think will be Zabit’s next opponent in 2020? How do you see a big picture in the UFC’s featherweight division? We predict these fights will take place until the end of 2020: a rematch between Alex Volkanovski and Max Holloway, Zabit will face Yair Rodriguez, Brian Ortega will square off with “The Korean Zombie”.
