Umar Nurmagomedov suffered a knee injury & ACL surgery
One of the most talented young up-and-comers in the UFC’s bantamweight division Umar Nurmagomedov most recently suffered a serious knee injury that led to surgery. This news came out of nowhere because Umar was rumored to fight at UFC 260 on March 27, 2021.
These news about Umar’s knee injury were reported to the Russian media by Rizvan Magomedov (Rizvan is Umar’s manager as well as Ali Abdelaziz).
According to Magomedov, Umar torn his ACL. Rizvan did not reveal when and how Khabib’s cousin injured his knee. Just a few days ago, Umar was cornering his brother, Usman Nurmagomedov, when he made his Bellator debut on April 2nd and did not appear to be injured then.
A 25-year-old Dagestani fighter undergone knee surgery on April 6th after he came back to Russia from the US and will most likely be out at least for 6 months. Following his surgery, Umar shared a post on Instagram where he said that “according to doctors, surgery was a success“.
This injury sets Umar Nurmagomedov back as he was looking for a quick turnaround following his successful UFC debut in January. In his first fight in the UFC, Umar defeated a Kazakhstani fighter Sergey Morozov via submission finish in the second round.
