Umar Nurmagomedov beats Wagner Lima for a 9th straight win

Khabib Nurmagomedov’s cousin, Umar Nurmagomedov, extended his winning streak at the Battle on Volga 10 event in Tolyatti, Russia.

Umar faced a Brazilian fighter Wagner Lima (he was 12-3 going into this fight, 9-1 in last 10). Wagner Lima has a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Originally, Nurmagomedov-Jr. was meant to face another undefeated prospect from Russia – Armen Gulyan. But Gulyan broke his arm a few weeks before the fight and was replaced by Wagner Lima.

Here, you can watch a video of the full fight Umar Nurmagomedov vs Wagner Lima.

Umar won this bout and defended his Bantamweight Battle on Volga title via unanimous decision. Nurmagomedov-Jr. was dominated his opponent the whole fight on his feet as well as on the ground. He used a very impressive variety of leg kicks, front kicks, low kicks as well as some jabs and takedowns. Umar was close to ground and pound Lima in the 3 round but the fight went to a decision.

Umar Nurmagomedov is still undefeated in the professional MMA with a 9-0 record. So far he is been dominating against all his opponents and he showed some improvements and upgrades to his game from fight to fight. It seems like he is a well-rounded fighter – he is comfortable in stand-up striking as well as wrestling/grappling on the ground.

We are looking forward to see Umar’s next fight and maybe soon welcome another Nurmagomedov to the UFC.
