Welcome to the UFC: Tagir Ulanbekov, Khabib’s teammate
Khabib Nurmagomedov most recently announced on his Instagram that his teammate Tagir Ulanbekov signed a contract with the UFC.
Below, you’ll find more information about UFC’s new fighter Tagir Ulanbekov as most of you probably never even heard his name until now.
Tagir Ulanbekov: Profile
Age: 29 years old.
Division: Flyweight (125 lbs).
Height: 5’6″ (168 cm).
Fighting out of: Makhachkala, Russia.
Coach: Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov.
Professional MMA record: 11-1-0.
Prior to UFC competed in Fight Nights Global, GFC.
Tagir Ulanbekov has a similar style of fighting as Khabib Nurmagomedov and most Dagestani fighters. He has a decent stand-up, often mixing up some kicks but his biggest strengths are takedowns, ground game, top control, and submissions. In fact, his last two fights Ulanbekov won via rear-naked choke and guillotine choke. 6 out of 11 of his wins prior to UFC came as a result of a submission.
Ulanbekov might not be as talented as some other Dagestani fighters like Khabib, Zabit Magomedsharipov, or Khabib’s cousin Umar Nurmagomedov. But he is a skillful fighter and he might be a nice addition to the UFC’s flyweight division.
How do you think Tagir Ulanbekov will fair in the UFC’s flyweight division? Who will he fight in his UFC debut?
