Islam Makhachev signed a new contract with the UFC

Islam Makhachev, Khabib Nurmagomedov’s lifetime friend, teammate and sparring partner, signed a new contract with the UFC organization.

Makhachev’s new deal is a 4-fight agreement and according to Islam “financial terms of the contract are a lot better than expected”. In his latest interview, Makhachev also stated that up until now he basically didn’t save any money because all of his earnings were going towards training and fight camps at AKA gym in San Jose.

Islam Makhachev is currently ranked as #14 in the UFC lightweight rankings but is considered to have a very high ceiling by many experts. In his most recent bout, Makhachev dominated against a Brazilian fighter Davi Ramos at UFC 242 in Abu-Dhabi.

The UFC didn’t announce Makhachev’s next opponent yet but it is possible Islam will face a winner of Kevin Lee vs Gregor Gillespie fight next at some point in 2020.
