Fedor Emelianenko about Khabib: “He has work to do on striking technique”
The Russian heavyweight mixed martial artist, Fedor Emelianenko, recently gave an interview to the Russian news agency Tass. One of the topics Emelianenko talked about was his opinion on the Russian undefeated UFC Lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.
“I haven’t seen Khabib’s most recent fights. He found his niche, he dominates his opponents by using his strong skills. Khabib is a champion because he is head and shoulders above the opponents with his grappling.
But Khabib definitely has work to do on his striking technique. He can improve his boxing technique as well as the kicking technique. Otherwise, he is doing everything right. He is still young and has the potential to further improve his stand up to reach even greater heights…”
In his upcoming fight, Khabib Nurmagomedov is scheduled to defend his UFC lightweight title against Tony Ferguson. Their bout will take place at UFC 249 event at Barclays Center in New York on April 18.
Fedor Emelianenko, one of the greatest heavyweight martial artists of all time, is still professionally competing in the Bellator MMA promotion. In his last fight, Emelianenko got a first-round knockout victory over Quinton Jackson. Fedor never fought in the UFC but at the time he was on a 28-fight undefeated streak which included wins over 4 former UFC champions, one Pride FC champion, one former and two future K-1 champions.
